Charlotte Williams would like to invite you to begin a series of artist and curator talks and discussion groups at The Courtyard Deli in Falmouth. The first will be on Sunday 27th May at 11.00 am until 12.30pm, to compliment her current show at The Courtyard Deli, A New Perspective for 2012.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions about Williams’ practice and the projects she is currently developing. For example, in 2012 she is working on Embark: Ferry Art 2012, Scattered plots & Routes We Take, A Solo Exhibition by Katja Davar at Newlyn Art Gallery and the 60th Anniversary Exhibition for Free Painters & Sculptors in London.
This first meeting will hopefully develop a group of artists and curators who can meet once a month to discuss their practice and ideas and also to share opportunities / local projects.
The Courtyard Deli offers a relaxing venue accompanied by freshly prepared food.
So please come along and enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake with Charlotte Williams and other local creative practitioners to inspire creativity.
Over the past six months, Williams has noticed a shift in the direction and framework of her practice. She is not only concerned with the composition of her minimal drawings, but also the effect of the art object and its relationship to the space it is installed within.
Does the viewer just glance at the work, or do they immerse themselves and enquire?
How do we encourage the viewer to look at an art object from a variety of angles, perspectives and distances?
The drawings and paintings, (which the artist considers ‘art objects’) explore the idea that ‘less is more’, developing theories of boundaries, perception and non-conformity.
Charlotte’s practice and process is informed by artists, architects and curators, including Richard Serra, Daniel Buren, and Zaha Hadid.
This exhibition continues until Monday 28th May. The Courtyard Deli can be found at 2 Bells Court, Falmouth (up the ramp opposite Marks and Spencers. The deli is open from 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Wednesday, 9am – 9.30pm Thursday to Saturday and 10am – 4pm on Sundays
